Comparison of the Kinematics Following Gait Perturbation in Individuals Who Did or Did Not Undergo Total Knee Replacement

چکیده
We aimed to compare the spatiotemporal parameters and joint kinematics during unperturbed perturbed gait between individuals with osteoarthritis (OA) who did or not undergo total knee replacement (TKR) one year post a baseline evaluation. OA subjects scheduled for TKR (TKR group; n = 14) (NTKR 17) were age-matched. Outcome measures included: range of motion, timed up go, pain levels, Oxford score, Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale. In addition, recorded gait. After year, most group (71%), but only 41% NTKR group, increased their velocity by more than 0.1m/sec, which is meaningful clinical important difference velocity. perturbation contralateral limb, showed greater decrease in maximal extension hip compared (p 0.031). decreased flexion–extension 0.011) ankle plantar flexion 0.049). Although surgery was successful terms reduction functionality, following exhibited unique compensatory strategies response both limbs. These findings might suggest that balance deficits remain therefore are associated risk falls.
